Product Description Though it looks rather fragile, this kettle can take extreme heat. It's specifically engineered for boiling water on the stove. It just got easier to make cocoa, tea, instant soup and Jell-O!

Simple, elegant design March 1, 2010 Nathan R. Stouffer (Detroit, MI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After returning a $30 Kitchenaid curling tea enamel kettle because it was flaking, and the whistle didn't work, I decided to give this a try for $10 at BBB. I'm very happy with the purchase, simple elegant design, high quality lab glass, I love staring at the blue gas flames through the water and glass, and seeing the randomness of the water bubbles boiling. Whistle works, not perfect, but 80% good whistle. If you have an electric coil stove, you have to use the included metal clip under it, I have gas so not an issue. Can't beat the price. Happy customer.
Great kettle February 25, 2010 Eleanor Faye Lewis (Georgia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this because I keep wearing out the tin and even enamel pots. I also don't like the taste that comes from some of the cheap aluminum pots I have used. Thus far, I find this to be sturdy and a great kettle. I am not finding the handle to be hot. The whistle works well. It is great for coffee press coffee.
ALMOST Perfect Tea Kettle... February 25, 2010 Elle VanCleef (Anaheim Hills, CA United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Agree with both first 2 Viewers, except for the "lifetime" shelf life - it definitely is NOT. After 1 year, the water gets misty (NOT clear) and I have to clean it with CLR to get the guck out. And after a while, it needs washing it with CLR every day - not a big deal, but still an annoyance. I'd expected better from a Glass item. But, for the price, I don't mind buying it every year.
I love this glass kettle! Highly recommend! February 23, 2010 R. Molinar (Dallas, TX) I wanted something different, not your typical stainless steel kettle that is difficult to tell how much water is inside. I was skeptical on how durable this glass kettle would be, but it has turned out to be perfect! I would highly recommend this product.
Good value for the price, but a few design flaws February 20, 2010 E. FitzGerald (Burbank, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just got this kettle last week after the whistle on my old one broke. I bought this one because of the price and because of the glass. It's easier to clean than a conventional kettle and you eliminate any metallic taste.
But there are three design flaws worth noting before you buy:
1. As other reviewers have mentioned, the handle gets very hot when you boil water (at least on gas stove). You can't pick it up as you normally would. You need to either use a pot holder or hold it at the end of the handle. I'm going to look for a heat resistant sleeve to stick over it. But still. How does a handle that's too hot to hold get through user testing?
2. The whistle isn't very loud. I live in a pretty small apartment and, from my office which is 12-15 feet away, I can barely hear the whistle. Even with the door open and no music playing.
3. You have to remove the whistle device from the pot before you can pour the water. Not an incredible burden, but a little inconvenient. Again, this seems like a design no-brainer that's pretty simple to solve. Maybe that had to leave work early that night to catch a movie.
All-in-all, it's okay at $13 with free shipping and no sales tax. And I could live happily with everything if it had a louder whistle.
